Donate to the Farm
Working for a Cooperative Future
As a farm in their first year, we depend on the generosity of our friends and neighbors. If you’re considering donating to our work, read below on why we need donations, what we’ll use it for, and how it will contribute to Texas food production.

Without the conventional forms of start up funding that many new businesses have access to, Hot Spell is built from the ground up – our startup funds consisted of portions of our paychecks $7000 in crowdfunding, and that’s it! We’re striving to create a model for a collectively owned and worker-operated farm that will thrive and feed our community for years to come.
As we aim to gain co-op status for our business by 2025, we’re potentially one of the only cooperatively, worker-run farms in Texas. This is the very beginning of an exciting new chapter of what farming could look and feel like, any generosity you offer to support our farm is grateful appreciated.
It’s estimated that it can cost up to $40000 to start a small-scale farm business. While the four of us don’t depend on the farm as our primary source of income yet, we are endeavoring to. Hot Spell is run by full-time farmworkers and people in the food service industry and nonprofit agriculture world.
If you’re not in a position to give, please share our donation page with someone who might be!
